Exploratorium
Online exhibit of the Exploratorium, the museum of science, art, and human perception in San Francisco. RAINBOW EDGES IN A LENS demonstrates a phenomenon that has always been a problem for astronomers and camera makers--the tendency of lenses to make rainbows out of white light. This defect in lenses is called "chromatic aberration" and occurs because the edges of a lens are prism shaped and, like a prism, disperse the colours in white light. Blue light is bent most and therefore focuses closer to the lens than red.

Gretag MacBeth [Now X-Rite] - Eye1 Share

This is arguably the most you can get for the least on the Web right now.  It's amazing GretagMacbeth gives this product away for free!  Colour Exchange Format or CxF is the emerging international industry standard for exchange of colour information between applications as well as between colour measuring devices (including Eye1 and other products.) Eye1 Share 1.4 freeware includes CxF colour palettes in order to enable you to build layers of information about any colour. CxF is the “container” that carries critical information from design to final production. It can include data such as the colour, specific lighting conditions, the type of paper, the ink, density of the colour film, gloss, texture and so forth. CxF lets you take the guesswork out of colour decisions and ensures all critical information is included so what the designer intended is what the client receives on final output.
